San Antonio Board of REALTORS® releases January 2010 real estate statistics
San Antonio, TX – February 15, 2010 - According to the January 2010 Multiple Listing Service report by the San Antonio Board of REALTORS® (SABOR), the number of single-family residential sales was 834, similar to the number of sales in January one year ago which was 836. The average price and median price were down by 6% when compared to January 2009.
“The winter months are not typically the peak-buying season,” said Marietta Alba, the San Antonio Board of REALTORS® 2010 Chairman of the Board. “We fully anticipate the number of sales to increase in the upcoming months, not only because of seasonal changes, but because of the homebuyer tax credit extension and expansion. ”Inventory levels remain steady with active listings at 11,209 and pending sales at 1,151, 3.5% higher than pending sales in January 2009 which were 1,112. Over 73% of sales were under $200,000, while 24% were between $200,000 and $500,000. “San Antonio remains affordable,” said Travis Kessler, CEO of the San Antonio Board of REALTORS®. “Many new jobs are coming to the region and interest rates are still low. All of these factors help to keep San Antonio a great place to live.”
