San Antonio Board of REALTORS® releases April 2010 real estate statistics
San Antonio, TX – May 18, 2010 - According to the April 2010 Multiple Listing Service report by the San Antonio Board of REALTORS® (SABOR), the number of single-family residential sales increased 20 percent when compared to April 2009. The average and median prices were down slightly from April 2009 at $176,623 and $143,000, respectively, for April 2010.
“We are happy to see the number of sales increase each month when compared to these same time periods last year,” said Marietta Alba, the San Antonio Board of REALTORS® 2010 Chairman of the Board. “The extension and expansion of the Homebuyer’s Tax Credit though April certainly helped these numbers increase, but we also believe consumer confidence has picked up since April of last year.”
The number of pending sales increased significantly when compared to April a year ago. April 2010 showed 2,189 pending sales, the highest it has been in over three years. Pending sales are a good indication of the number of sales for the following month.
“We are certainly moving into our peak season,” said Alba. “With low interest rates, affordable prices and job growth, San Antonio is a prime place to buy right now.”
Approximately 74.5% of sales were under $200,000 in April. Additionally, San Antonio’s months of inventory remain close to an eight-month supply.
