— Southwest General Hospital
Formed in 1979 by 20 physicians, Southwest General Hospital is a 327-bed facility that offers comprehensive health care services. The facility provides emergency care, heart care, advanced surgical procedures, diagnostic imaging, maternity care, orthopedic services and help for a broad range of medical conditions. Southwest General Hospital was the first in Texas to receive a Certificate of Distinction for its Inpatient Diabetes Care program from the Joint Commission. In addition, the Southwest’s Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Center has achieved accreditation by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS), making it one of only two civilian hospitals in San Antonio that is accredited by the UHMS.

— The University of Texas Health Science Center
The University of Texas (UT) Health Science Center at San Antonio is a health institution that is part of the University of Texas System. The UT Health Science Center offers patient care via its Cancer Therapy and Research Center (CTRC), Dental Clinics, UT Allied Heath Therapeutics and UT Medicine. The CTRC is a National Cancer Institute designated cancer center, one of only three in Texas. UT Allied Health Therapeutics is a comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation facility that uses a multidisciplinary team approach to provide patients with individualized care. UT Medicine is the clinical private practice of the School of Medicine faculty members, offering both primary and specialty medical care.

As the only Tier One (annual research expenditures of $100 million or more) research university in South Texas, the center is ranked in the top 5 percent of all research universities in the nation receiving federal funding. With $171 million received annually in research-related grants, contracts and awards, it is home to state-of-the-art research facilities. — Warm Springs Rehabilitation System
Warm Springs Rehabilitation System founded Texas’ first rehabilitation hospital in 1937. Warm Springs Rehabilitation System serves residents via the Warm Springs Rehabilitation Hospital and the Warm Springs Rehabilitation Center-Northwest. The Hospital and Rehabilitation Center offer services including physical, occupational and speech therapy. Rehab services for amputation, brain injury, major joint/orthopedic trauma, movement disorders, pain, pediatric, pulmonary, spinal cord injury and stroke are also available. Specialty services include aquatic therapy, balance/vestibular, hyberbaric medicine, neuropsychology, spasticity management and wound care.
